Dr.M.Parani, Head of the Department has been awarded "DBT- CREST (Cutting-edge Research Enhancement and Scientific Training) Award" for the year 2012. He traveled to Biodiversity Institute of Ontario, Canadian Centre for DNA Barcoding, Canada to learn high throughput DNA barcoding. He also visiting Royal Botanic Garden of Edinbugh in UK.
